Have You Counted Up The Cost

Have you ever thought about what happens in the soul of an individual when we hurt them? Have you ever wondered what happens in the souls’ realm when we deliberately wrong and mistreat one another?

Have you ever thought about who was using you when you committed that hurt or wrong? Do you know that your soul is in jeopardy when we carry out such acts?

What does God say about us hurting each other?

How important is my soul to you? How important is my soul to God? How important is my soul to Satan? How important is my spirit to Satan?

How important am I to God? How important to God are you?

St Matthew 16:26

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Note: The more evil you are the more the devil wants you and will use you and the more he will offer you for your serving him

St Matthew 4:8-9

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Now, Jesus did not submit or commit Himself to the devil and his offers.

How much are you willing to risk to walk with Christ Jesus and in His footsteps? How much are you not willing to give up to walk with Christ Jesus?

Have you counted up the cost?

St Luke 14:28-30

28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Your discipleship will be tested

St Luke 14:26-27

26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

This test of discipleship is why so many believers are running from one House of Prayer to another.

Priority of Spiritual Relationships

St Matthew 12:47-50

47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?

49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Christ Jesus illustrated this principle first.

SPECIAL NOTE: In the Lord our natural affections are sanctified and lifted up to the level of the divine love (God’s Love). This takes place when the Holy Ghost is reigning in you

Your natural affections are compared to the believer’s devotedness to Christ.

Your part in counting up the cost

  • Self-renunciation, to renounce one’s own rights, claims, and interest, etc. especially in the favor of another.
  • True cost of allegiance to the Lord. What is your true cost of allegiance to Him?
  • Full and selfless service to God and His Word.
  • Demand for your heart and mind, and not just your body and money.
  • One must be willing to faithfully follow Christ Jesus. You must be prepared to hate as it is written in St Luke 14:26-27. This hate is only if they try to stop you from following Christ. If they have another doctrine other than Jesus and Him being crucified.
  • Loyalty to Jesus Christ and God the Father must be the highest loyalty above your earthly love, desires, and comforts. All love for self, others, and worldly possessions must be subordinate to the love you have for the Lord God. Who is our first love?
  • Your sacrifices are worthless if they are not costing you anything. Don’t let your suffering and sacrifices be in vain. The costliness of commitment and selfless service to God’s Will has been made an example and put into motion by Jesus Christ. There is nothing else and no other way to show commitment to God and His Will. We have nothing greater than what Jesus has already done. God counted up the cost before proceeding with the plan of salvation for all mankind, just as He did when He count up the cost to call us out of darkness to serve Him. In order to win the war against your enemies: your will (human nature, with the flesh), the world, and Satan you must be willing to count up the cost, the worth of your soul and spirit for this unbeatable plan of God.
  • We can overcome these enemies and win with obedience and faithfulness to God and His Word, with His Holy Spirit (the Holy Ghost).
