Food for thought!
Apostle Tracey Robinson All Rights Reserved
- Last week we taught and discussed the world, the flesh, and the devil’s part against your Soul.
- This week we want to separate the two kingdom desires by asking the question: What kingdom are you hungering and thirsting for?
St Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
- Blessed here for us refers to you as a born-again, new creature that is enjoying God’s favor and His gift of Salvation.
- Righteousness here for us is referring to being upright and in right standing with God.
- Food for thought!
- Food for thought means something that should be thought about or considered carefully.
- For example a sentence using food for thought: This teaching is food for thought for everyone who thinks they can get away with such vicious, wicked, poor quality, or extremely bad choices in the Word of God.
Questions
- Are you hungry for the Word of God? Thirsty for the Word of God?
- Is your hunger and thirst for the Word greater than your natural hunger and thirst?
- When you get hungry naturally, how long does it take you to know and fill your hungers desire and thirst?
- How long does it take for your Soul and Spirit to hunger and thirst for the righteousness in the Word and Will of God?
- Does your Soul and Spirit desire the hunger for the need for spiritual growth?
- Spiritual growth in and by the Word of God is the nourishment needful for your soul and spirit.
- Does your spiritual hunger outweigh your natural hunger, i.e. for food, clothing, money, shelter, land, cars, jobs, education, etch?
- Will you die naturally if you don’t provide the proper nourishment for the physical body?
- Will you die spiritually if you don’t provide the proper spiritual nourishment for your soul and spirit?
- Do you maintain a balanced diet spiritually and naturally?
- Are your natural meals balanced to give you the recommended daily required for natural growth and health?
- When was the last time you had a strong desire or craving for the Word of God and its need in you?
- It is similar or equivalent to the same hunger and thirst you have for your natural body?
Psalm 63:1-3 1 O GOD, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Spiritual thirst is longing for the state of being strong and active, energetic (vitality); peace, and delight in God.
It is the soul and spirit that thirst for God and His righteousness.
Psalm 42:1-2 1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
- Are you experiencing spiritual dryness?
- What is spiritual dryness?
- Loss of faith in God where you lose hope, trust, confidence, and courage in Him.
- Loss of the Word taking root and depth in your heart because of a lack of faith.
- Loss in focus, losing your bearings, position, location.
In Genesis 3:9 when Adam had rebelled (sin) against God, He called Adam and said to him, “Where art thou?”
- God was not referring to a physical location! As soon as Adam sinned (or we sin) he was out of disposition (we are out of disposition) with the Lord God. Adam was no longer in “sync”! He became “out of agreement” with God and His Word.
- When your soul and spirit is out of “sync” with the Kingdom and it’s righteousness you become weary, lost, and depressed.
- You began to doubt God and unbelief takes its abode.
- The Word of God and the creation of man was once in sync, working together and making things work according to the Will of God.
- Are you in sync with the Will of God in your soul and spirit?
- Difficulties in and with fellowshipping with the people of God.
- In this you began to shy away from the Saints, getting farther and farther away from the “ark of your souls safety”.
- Now choosing to “look back” to your past and its issues to relate to them for your comfort and understanding.
- Guilt and shame comes to cause you to “feel” that you did nothing wrong, but they just don’t understand what you’re going through. Shame says you feel that your whole being is wrong!
- The ONLY SOURCE that can and will quench your spiritual thirst is the Word of God with its knowledge and understanding of who the Bishop of your soul is.
- Spiritual dryness starts in the heart of soul.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
- This scripture suggest the extreme difficulty of distinguishing between the soul and spirit, alike in nature and in their activities.
- The spirit is the higher; the soul is the lower element.
- The spirit may be recognized as the life principle bestowed on man by God, the soul as the resulting life constituted in the individual, and the body being the material organism animated by soul and spirit.
- In St Matthew 26:38 the emotions are associated with the soul; St John 13:21 emotions are associated with the spirit.
- In Psalm 35:9 the soul rejoices in God; in St Luke 1:47 the soul rejoices in the Spirit
Soul of man
- Soul is the immaterial, invisible part of man, St Matthew 10:28; the disembodied or unclothed or nakedness of man, 2 Corinthians 5:3-4.
- In your Soul lies the seat of your personality, Hebrews 6:19; 10:39; the seat of the sentiment (a feeling or emotion) element in man, that by which he perceives, reflects, feels, and desires, St Matthew 11:29; Psalm 84:2; the seat of his Will and purpose, St Matthew 22:37; Acts 4:32; the seat of his appetite, Revelation 18:14; an animated creature or human reflected through the physical man, 1 Corinthians 15:45; the inward man, the seat of the new life.
- This is why Soul must be converted and transformed by the Word of God so that he, the inward man can be renewed (regenerated) and restored and become the natural life of your body.
- Your flesh will be crucified daily through Soul’s conversion and transformation.
- Soul will become your natural life as the spirit being that you are.
- Body and soul are the constituents (being a part of the whole) of the man according to St Matthew 6:25
Spirit of man
- Spirit denotes breathe, blow.
- Spirit like the wind is invisible, immaterial and powerful part of man, St Luke 8:55
- Spirit is also the disembodied or unclothed or nakedness of man
The Holy Spirit
- The Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:11 KJV Amplified Now we have not received the spirit that belongs to the world, but the Holy Spirit Who is from God, given to us that we might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts of divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly bestowed on us by God.
- The Holy Spirit is the one who sets His seal on the perfect work of Christ in you, as the flesh which seeks to better itself by its works of its own is mortified daily.
- Mortifying your flesh through the Word of God will subdue it, its lust, habits, practices, and desires by self-denial and disciplining it by the Word.
- This is why it is so important that all born-again believers walk after the Spirit! This signifies by supernatural power in contrast to walking after the flesh by its natural power.
Galatians 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
- In Genesis 21:9 Sarah saw the son of Hagar mocking the son she had, Isaac that was born of Abraham.
- The Holy Spirit does not need the help of your natural power to aid and assist Him in His purposes in the earth.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
- The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us just as He dwells in Heaven in all His Divine attributes; His distinct Personality in the Godhead; His operation in connection with the Lord Jesus’ birth, baptism, burial, and resurrection in you; His operations and works in the world; in the Church (the Body of Christ); His operations in the individual believer; in the local assemblies; and His operations in the production and manifestation of the Word of God.
To be spiritual is to stop the spiritual dryness in your soul and spirit.
- Being spiritual is your being having its origin with God, and is in harmony with His character, as with His law.
- Being spiritual reveals the purposes of God in the Gospel by the Holy Spirit.
- All that is produced and maintained by and among men by the operations of the Spirit of God is spiritual. 1 Corinthians 15:46
- The spirit man in you is the one who walks by the Spirit both in the sense of Galatians 5:16, 25.
- The spirit man manifests the fruit of the Spirit in His own ways in you.
- Believers that are immature and inexperience has not yet reached spirituality.
- To reach the spiritual state the soul and spirit appetites is reached by being diligence in the Word of God and in prayer; it maintained by obedience and self-judgment.
- To be spiritual one must grow, growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus, 2 Peter 3:18 is the evidence of true spirituality.
To end your spiritual dryness
- Come back to the Lord Jesus you sinner, backslider, and transgressor in FAITH.
- The Word of God is forever settled in heaven and will not be changed, altered, or compromised on anyone’s behalf, Psalm 119:89
- The Word of God “endures”.
- Forgive and love!
- Pray asking the Lord to forgive you and you forgive yourself and those that have despitefully used you, cursed you, and or hate you.
- WAIT on the reply or response from the Lord for your next move of God in your life.
- Study the Word of God in Spirit and in Truth as the spirit being that you are to build yourself back up on your most holy faith.
Jude verse 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
- All these things as you continue will increase your faith
- Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the blessings and promises! For they will not lead you in faith and make you complete.
- Stand courageously on and in the Word of God by faith, not fear.
- Make your faith strong and continuously growing by knowing that God is always with you for He will never leave you nor forsake you.
- Develop a daily devotion to the Spirit of God.
- Fellowship with the Saints! For iron sharpens iron.
- Get involved with the Source and His activities in your local assembly.
- Hungering and thirsting for and after righteousness is spiritual fullness!
Amen
