Your Spiritual Mind Will Subdue Your Flesh

Your spiritual mind will subdue your flesh

Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

  • God called us and ordained us to walk in good works! What are we walking in?

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  • Christ Jesus partaking of our sin made us the righteousness of God in Him.
  • Jesus Christ is our substitute. He is our sin bearer. We are justified by faith.
  • Love and faith must be in us created from our acceptance of God’s love and His plan called Salvation through His Son Jesus; and through our confession and conviction that produces our faith in Christ Jesus and the Word of God.
  • Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
  • This is that new man that is after God – His image, His likeness. Put Him on!
  • Conviction is the state or condition of being convinced or fully awakened to awareness of sin; fixed belief.
  • Conviction will fix your belief into faith.
  • The mind is defined as the heart.
  • St Matthew 15:18-20 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
  • This is sins fruit!
  • Jeremiah 17:9-10 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
  • A spiritual mind is the mind of Christ Jesus.
  • The mind of Christ is Galatians 5:22-23. Its characteristics must be the fruit of the Spirit.
  • A spiritual mind is the soul of man regenerated by the hearing of the Word of God.
  • A spiritual mind comes with your spiritual resurrection. Have you been spiritually resurrected? Were you resurrected by Christ Jesus?

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

  • Christ Jesus’ mind will only do the Will of the Father.
  • The mind of Christ will subdue the Will of your flesh! If it has not and will not, what mind do you possess?
  • Salvation raised us up from a spiritual death. Yes, we are born in sin and spiritually dead!
  • Salvation gave us the choice to be born again.
  • Salvation accepted, regenerated us, causing our souls to live by the hearing and acceptance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new. Have you really experienced this process yet?

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within you: and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh.

  • God is saying here, your heart is flesh, but filled with the stubbornness, the filth of your sinful nature wrapped in disobedience toward Me. So I’m going to replace your stony heart through the same spiritual surgery I performed on Adam once before. And in this new, fleshly spiritual heart comes with the characteristics, the mind, my statues, and obedience of My Son Jesus in order to create my Son in you back to Me.
  • Salvation gave us the choice to choose to let the Word of God heard create in us a new heart, a new spirit that will cause us to walk in the spirit, in the statutes and ordinances of the righteousness of God.
  • This new heart and new spirit will give you the strength to do the Will of God. God will be able to call us His people and we will be able to call Him our God.
  • The new man in you must have a spiritual mind and this mind must be Christ Jesus’ mind to do God’s in you. Your carnal mind won’t do it!

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

  • The Spirit of Christ Jesus has to “quicken” you from your spiritual death of trespasses and sins.
  • Quicken means to make alive; give or restore life to.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

  • How is it that denominations and traditions and religion separates us when the Word says He has raised us up together and seated us together in heavenly places?
  • This is that unity-oneness-being in one accord, regardless of the House you’re in. We should all be saying the same thing and believing the same thing, not trying to counteract one another in a spirit of confusion.
  • 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
  • Ephesians 4:13-18 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
  • Jesus declares His sheep knows His voice!
  • We are back in the Kingdom of God here through Christ’s resurrection in you.

1 Peter 4:1-6

1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; if you’ve suffered in your flesh for your sin then why are you still sinning? You must take on the suffering packet of Jesus Christ in order to cease from sinning.

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lust, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot speaking evil of you:

5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. Who is going to judge God? He is taking on the account of your going from a spiritual death to a spiritual life.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Living in the flesh you will be judged by the Word of God. Living in the spirit the Word will already have judged you.

  • Being able to cease from sin by Jesus Christ’s example.
  • Suffering in the flesh to release the holds of the flesh so that your soul can live and take on the new creature of Christ Jesus.
  • Suffering in the flesh, its habits and practices will mortify, crucify, and put to death its senses so they can be trained and exercised spiritually.

Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

  • Jesus Christ is made perfect in you through your sufferings! He is your captain.
  • Jesus said, My sheep know My voice! Whether you hear that voice in your wilderness, in your pain of trials and tribulations; or in your valley of discomforts; etc. His sheep will always know His voice! St John 10:4-5

Hebrews 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

  • Jesus had to suffer exactly the way the sacrifices were offered up to God. The blood of animals were brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin, but the animals bodies were burned outside the limits of the camps. So Jesus also suffered and died outside the city’s gate in order to purify and consecrate the people through the shedding of His blood to set them apart as Holy for God.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

  • Now why do we have so many problems with walking in the spirit so we won’t fulfill the lust of our flesh? What is the real problem? What was Adams sin? Disobedience! Now, what is your sin?
  • Don’t come into Salvation to become dumber than you were before the knowledge of Him that suffered for your sins!

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

  • A spiritual mind will cause you to see all things going on from an “aerial view”. You see things from above! A heavenly view of your circumstances, situations, issues, habits, practices, etc.
  • Aerial means existing, happening, or operating in the air.
  • For example, like an aerial battle taking place but seen from above.
  • Or in terms of some plants that have roots that develop from a location on a plant above the surface of the earth or water, as from a stem.
  • A spiritual mind is a MUST HAVE to be able to root in Christ Jesus and grow by faith from an aerial view regardless of our soil or season, it must be above self. I must be able to grow beyond self!
  • Your carnal mind (fleshly mind) is an enmity against God and will never be subject to God’s Law. Romans 8:7.
  • Enmity is extreme hatred; the spirit of an enemy; ill-willed; malevolence (having an evil disposition toward others).
  • It is the heart that determines your future and destiny.
  • We are a “sum total” of the choices we make daily; and whatever we choose to hear, see, and listen to constantly will become our future.
  • Your Soul should feed your Spirit and receive from your Spirit, and also feed the Body through the Soul. Whichever is the strongest is the one guiding and leading the other?
  • We become what we are continuing to hear; you become what you are continuing to see.
  • Winning the body of believers is easy! It is possible to be saved, but converting the soul is the tough job.
  • So the battle is for the soul of mankind. The attack is against your soul, not your flesh.
  • Whoever controls the soul rules the man!
  • The devil knows that you hold the “key” to his battle with God.
  • The devil is not after your body, its dirt! He is not after your spirit because it is already filled with God’s breath.
  • The key component is to manipulate, influence, trick, deceive, etc. the soul.
  • The mind (heart) is the center of your Soul.
  • The Soul is an integration of 3 parts: the mind (two minds: conscious and subconscious minds; the heart (the subconscious mind) which is the center of the soul; the thinking bank); the Will (the decision maker; choice); and the emotions (feelings in the soul, not flesh). These three make up the Soul.
  • This is what makes your soul the most important part of your life.

God wants our mindset changed! He is concerned about our mind, not our way of dressing, not the wearing of collars, robes, or priestly garments; because it’s not in the outward appearance or garments. It is your heart that concerns Him because it controls you, your destiny and future.

Believers are dressed to the “T”, but their minds are jacked up and carnal! It is only through the Word of God that the mind (the heart) will change. The Word of God must be in the heart in order not to sin against God, your brethren, and yourself.

Man’s spiritual problem is not just sin! It is not intellect (education); morals (moral training); emotional (love’s the answer); but Jesus Christ is the answer!

Without Jesus, all attempts at perfecting man and improving society is doomed until he accepts Jesus.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
