RELIGION vs. RELATIONSHIP Apostle Robinson All Rights Reserved 2023

• Religion is a particular system of faith and worship; This is manmade denominations designed to dilute the actual faith and worship in Christ.
• Denomination is a subgroup within a religion that operates under a common name and tradition among other activities; various Christian denominations; a religious group that has slightly diluted beliefs from other groups that share the same religion, i.e., Protestantism and Roman Catholicism are denominations supposedly of the same faith.
• Denomination is a subgroup within a religion that operates under a common name, tradition, and identity.
• Religion is a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
• Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
• Religion is a person(s) that comes to the House of Prayer thinking about watching the games, taking a nap, going to the restaurant, or can’t wait to get back to being the King and Queen of his castle, etc.
• Religion according to Wikipedia is usually defined as a social-cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, beliefs, world views, prophecies, sanctified places, ethics, or organizations, that generally relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, and spiritual elements.

• Relationship is defined as how two entities relate to each other.
• Relationship is the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected.
• Relationship is the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave toward each other.
• Relationship is emotional and intimate between people and God, not sexually associated in this definition.
• Relationship is the person(s) or people that are thinking and focused on the Lord God and His purpose.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Romans 11:6 KJV Amplified 6 But if it is by grace (His unmerited favor and graciousness), it is no longer conditioned on works or anything men have done. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace (it would be meaningless). 7 What then (shall we conclude)? Israel failed to obtain what it sought (God’s favor by obedience to the Law). Only the elect (those chosen few) obtained it, while the rest of them became callously indifferent (blinded, hardened, and made insensible to it). 8 As it is written, God gave them a spirit (an attitude) of stupor, eyes that should not see and ears that should not hear, (that has continued) down to this very day.

• I wanted to make note of this verse 8 to say as I always say to all “don’t play with God or try to fool God or try to use God” because it will turn on you when your motive is not His intent.
• Stupor is a state of near-unconsciousness or insensibility; a condition of the body in which the senses and faculties are suspended or greatly dulled.
• Evaluate your relations with the Lord God and His people to see if because your motives are not His intent. Has He given you a spirit of slumber toward His Word, Will, and Way?
• Religion can dominate your prayer life; easily dominate your daily walk with Christ; cripple your relationship with God, and greatly hinders us from getting into His Presence.
• Religion is an excuse (our excuse) to live carnal as a believer in Christ or as a new creature in Christ which makes Salvation a struggle to those that do this.
• Carnal means relating to physical, especially sexual, needs and activities; having the nature of the flesh, i.e., sensual, controlled by animal appetites, governed by human nature, instead of by the Spirit of God; in or of the flesh; bodily; material or worldly, not spiritual; having to do with or preoccupied with bodily or sexual pleasures.
• Carnal mind is against the spiritual mind of the new creature in you.
• The spiritual mind which is obtained from a relationship in Christ and with Christ.
• Religion makes the believer in you choose to compromise the Word of God for a fleshly feeling or as the Word says, “a season of sin”.
• This compromise causes the believer in you to live in a state of being lukewarm and rebellious toward God and His people.
• Carnality will keep you straddling the paths of your heart and keep you harden and deaf in heart.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

• Carnal knowledge is sexual intercourse between two people typically requiring penetration.
• Carnal knowledge is a necessary element of many sex crimes such as rape, child molestation, or consensual sexual relations with someone below the age of consent.
• Since carnal knowledge has to do with the lower members of the body that are disobedient they are the ones that keep many things and everything in an unsettling manner and behavior that causes the natural man to sin.
• Relationship outweighs and will override religion and all its lusts, habits, and practices,
• Relationship is only developed in Spirit and in Truth and it will never harden the new heart that has been replaced by the Spirit of God.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.

• This is where you can discern when a person’s heart has not been replaced by the Spirit of God. A new heart comes with the possession and control of the Holy Ghost.
• Religion teaches us that and demonstrates that we must do, whereas relationship teaches us that God can, He will, and He is our Soul Source.
• Relationship says I must trust the One who has done and is doing for me.
• Salvation is not a work-based redemption! It is free when we submit to surrender all to it.
• We have already been justified by grace through our faith in Christ alone, whereas religion keeps you in chains and in bondage, with the feeling that you can never measure up to the Ways of God in Christ, when in fact Christ has already made us free.
• Grace is not based upon works and how much work you do in the name of Jesus, if it were it would no longer be grace.

KJV Amplified Romans 4:4-5 4 Now to a laborer, his wages are not counted as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation (something owed to him). 5 But to one who, not working (by the Law), trusts (believes fully) in Him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (the standing acceptable to God).

• Religion says and displays that you must do something to be right and in right standing with God.
• Religion says that none of us are perfect and can never be perfect, whereas the Word says in relationship that we can because our Father is perfect.
• Relationship reveals and manifest the evidence of your faith in Christ which is lifechanging.
• Faith in Christ gives us the newness of being a new creature in Christ, desires for Christ, His Word, Will, and Way.
• Jesus hates hypocrisy, false religion, and believers appearing to be religious to show off (showboating).

St John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

• True religion is relationships.
• We don’t obey to try and maintain Salvation, but we obey out of love and gratitude for Our Father and His best for us through His Son Jesus for us.
• True religion is not religious, and you don’t try to appear to be religious. You don’t try to act out or imitate something or someone that you are not and what is not in you.
• You must be a new creature in Christ each of us individually!

James 1:26-27 26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

• Relationship pursues God. Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
• Religion kills intimacy and rob us of the true love of God.
• Religion pursues God for His Hand in blessings, natural or spiritual.
• Religion is a duty of checking a box to say I did this or that, a work without faith.
• Religion or Relationship, which one describes you best?
• Religion honors the Lord God with the lips and not from the heart. St Matthew 15:8-9 8 this people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and hounoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me. 9 But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandment of men.
• In relationship my soul waits for the Lord and His Voice to awaken him in me, Psalm 130.
• Religion is like the love of a natural father (daddy) that is loveless then you feel like you got to do something to gain his love, does this sound like your relationship with God the Father?
• The only reason we can love is because God is love and He loved us so, St John 3:16.
• Do we treat God like a loveless earthly father?
• True religion is to desire mercy, and not sacrifice; the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings, Hosea 6:6.

St Mark 12:33 And to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
