2 Timothy 2:15-19

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

• You must be God approved, tested by trials to be accurate in handling and skilled in teaching the Word of God in Spirit and in Truth, not in memory, intellect, or feelings.
• Rightly dividing the Word of Truth is having the ability to understand, correctly interpret the scriptures, and correctly teach the scriptures according to the Will of God, not your/our Will or your/our feelings but the Will of God.
• You must read the Word, study the Word, then meditate on the Word that you have read and studied.
• To rightly divide the Word of Truth is to be just and righteous to that which is in accordance with the rule, righteousness, and authority of God.
• Rightly means correct; with good reason; in accordance with justice or with what is morally right

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

• Avoid unsound doctrine that is vain, useless, and idle talk which leads to more ungodliness.
• Unsound doctrine promotes sin causing you to stray away from sound doctrine in your belief, practices, and behavior.
• Unsound doctrine is failure to endure sound doctrine.
• Sound doctrine is teaching that aligns with the Word of God and the Kingdom of God.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

• The spirit of Hymenaeus and Philetus teachings spread like cancer (gangrene).
• Hymenaeus and Philetus upset the faith of the Christians in Ephesus.
• They deviated from the truth and began teaching false doctrine. They were false teachers that denied the bodily resurrection of Jesus in that it had already occurred, which caused harm to the faith and the morals of the Church.

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

• Hymenaeus was found in 1 Timothy 1:19-20 with Alexander “suffered shipwreck with regards to their faith” and were delivered to Satan by the Apostle Paul so that they may learn not to blaspheme.

19 Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

• Our duty to the Spirit of God is to teach, preach, minister, and witness the Word of God in Spirt and in Truth so that it pleases God.
• This duty becomes your obligation to the Spirit of the Lord God only if you belong to Him.

In closing,

• Your surrendered life is the aroma of God.
• A surrendered life is a life that you no longer live for self but for the Lord Jesus Christ.
• 2 Corinthians 2:15-17 15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16 To the one (the latter) we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other (former) the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? (Who is qualified, fit, and sufficient for these things?) (Who is able for such a ministry?) 17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the Word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. We are not like hirelings making a trade of peddling the Word of God, shortchanging and adulterating the Divine message of God to the soul of man; but like men of sincerity and the purest motive, commissioned and sent by the Spirit of God, we speak His message in Christ in the very sight and presence of God.
• That sweet savour is the sweet fragrance of Jesus Christ in us which exhales to God.
• A surrendered life is to be imitators of the Spirit of Christ is everything we do, for then we will represent the Father as His beloved Sons and daughters.
• A surrendered life and lifestyle are to continue to walk by faith in the extravagant love of Jesus Christ for He surrendered His life as a sacrifice for us all.
• Rightly dividing the Word of Truth is to provide the correct context of the scriptures based on surrounding verses or chapters of scriptures being used by the Spirit of God in and with the transforming power of creating me as a new creature in Christ.
• To rightly divide the Word of Truth in Spirit and in Truth is not a natural fleshly thing.
• The law of the flesh is its works that tend to be contrary to the Will of God and His designed plan for mankind.
• Rightly dividing the Word comes with spiritual discernment and Wisdom to know and see all the ins and outs of every choice you must make to represent the Spirit of God and His righteousness.
• Wisdom knows what to do and how to do it to please God.
• St John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
• Learn how to rightly divide the Word so that you will know what represents the Lord and His Will for your life in Him on earth.
• Whatever we ask for in Jesus Name must glorify the Father through the Son.
•  Another scripture in St Matthew 18:19 says Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in Heaven.
• Again, anything and everything must represent the Will of God and His righteousness through His Son.
• If it doesn’t represent the Father and give Him pleasure and He put a stumbling block before it, then the devil will step in to give you what you are lusting for that the Lord won’t give you.
• You have got to know the difference between the blessings of the Lord versus the entrapment of the devil and his tactics he uses to disguise himself so you will think it is God blessing you. DON’T GET IT TWISTED!
• When what we need or desire, please God, it represents God in Heaven and His Spirit in the earth.
• Again, God will never violate His Word to bless you in your mess!
• For example, a new job given to a born-again new creature in Christ is first a soul winning assignment to let your light so shine, then the increase in money will represent Him as well as you learn how to handle the increase in money and not hoard it for self.
• Your witnessing skills and abilities must be the highlight of your new job recommended by the Spirit of God and not just your resume.
• We tend to think that God does not require us to acknowledge Him in all our ways. This is so because we don’t rightly divide the Word of Truth in Spirit and in Truth.
• When we don’t rightly divide the Word of Truth the devil’s play field has just been opened to every area in your life where you are spiritually grazing in for the Kingdom of God to open you up to lies and compromising. This is called spiritual blindness!
• St John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
• Truth is that which is consistent with the mind, Will, character, glory, and being of the Spirit of God.
• Truth is the self-expression of God Himself.
• Truth is not dependent on anyone believing it to be the truth.
• Truth in God and His Word is absolute and unchanging, representing who God is, what He does, His nature, and His character.
• Jesus Christ Himself is the Truth
• Take your hands off your life and let the Spirit of God transform you into the spirit being that He originally created in you.
• 2 Peter 2
